A year ago we reported this and now, the latest list of the Top 500 Supercomputers has been release, and what comes as a surprise is the fact that China has now 2 supercomputers in this list, and with one of them, number 2, which could be the fastest theoretically, with a whooping 2.98 Petaflops/s, as opposed to the theoretically 2.2 Petaflops/s for the actual reigning champ The Jaguar
The Jaguar still leads the list:
Jaguar 1.74 Petaflops/s (Department of Energy’s Oak Ridge)
Nebulae 1.271 Petaflops/s (China’s fastest)
RoadRunner 1.04 Petaflops/s (IBM’s machine)
Does this mean that China is a real contender? You bet it is, China is poised to become a contender in computer power and production, and the Nebulae system is just the sample
Google announced today their latest invention, “Google TV”, an experience where users can get “all the channels and shows you normally watch and all of the websites you browse all day including your favorite video, music and photo sites.”
It uses Google Chrome and lets you switch back and forth between your TV programming and web browsing… mmmh (so does that mean that we don’t have to put up with those loud commercials anymore?).
Google TV promises to turn your TV experience into a combination of photo slide show viewer, gaming console, music player and then some.
A Google search feature lets you quickly find content online and a DVR feature.
The Google TV SDK to be released soon after launch will run on Android and Google Chrome.

I would like to take a minute to show those that are starting with web development what not to do when they create there first website. Below is a list of horrible websites I have stumbled across with explanation on why it is a horrible site.
For those of you who denied the idea, or thought it would never happen, hear me up: the equivalent of a corporate Facebook application has arrived, and its name is not Facebook, it’s Socialcast.
The User Interface has all the elegance and familiarity of a social Web 2.0 application, plus if you are a Facebook or Twitter regular, you will feel just like home.
Still in shock? Now seriously think about it, it’s brilliant! Trust me, this is no SharePoint. This is the social in your own intranet.
If you have been paying attention to the latest from Google then you’ve heard about Google Wave.
Explaining it in words is a little hard. One could say that it’s the reinvention of email through social networking technologies, but that’s a very loaded statement with more questions left unanswered and a lot left to imagination.
Here’s a video I watched on Gizmodo that might help you understand what’s coming from our Google buddies:
Before designing any type of website there are a few questions you need to ask yourself. I have notice any and every bone head has set up a site for some reason or another so make sure you web creation has value.
Ask yourself, is there a reason for your website? What is that reason and what value does that have to you?
More than likely if you really do not care about the website then neither will anyone else, except for a few exceptions *cough* myspace. Next step plan out your site, which I mean make sure its easy to use, if people have to jump through hoops and climb a building to do a simple task they will not use your website.
Once you have a layout design that you believe is user friendly, “make sure you have a friend look over your idea to give you some input.” You need to decide on a color scheme. Try to keep everything on your website unified that way people will not get confused and think they are going to another website. Go easy on the graphics sometimes less is more and believe it or not in 2009 people still surf the net at 56k.
Once you have a solid plan go for it. Tell your friends and tell your family about your site. If you are creating your site to make money do not expect it to blow up over night, in some cases it may take months to years for it to become popular, key is to stick with it and to keep the technology up to date, example if you created your site for IE6 and the lastest version out is IE8 i think its time for an upgrade. Then again if you are changing your site every other week that too might throw people off. Take one idea and stick with it making slight visual changes to your site to keep people happy and familar.
These are just a few tips to get your started on creating your website. Stay tuned for Web Development 201 for more in depth information such as technologies and detail color schemes.
